6th May 2017
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: NE
Wind Stength: 20kts
Surf / Sea State: bumpy wavy
Air Temperature: cold
Sea Temperature: cold
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 26.86 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 11.6nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Arrived at the Dip 1pm ish to see loads out and the sea looked OK from car park. The NE was bitter cold to me but others were toasty?! The normal crowd was there including a blast from the past Cockney Peter an original member of the old windsurf club at the Manor club who I hadn't seen for many moons. Went for 6.7 even though light weights were on 6/6.5 so I knew it was going to be a underpowered day, but don't like too large on rough water. Although wind said 20kts on the Docks gauges - it def wasn't so first few runs only happen on gusts. Thankfully gusts were regular so had some nice runs from the beach side out to sea. Didn’t bother to look for flat water as too underpowered to go kite zone so just thrashed about on gusts. Hit 26.86 in rough water so there must have been flat bits, although it didn’t feel like it. The sea was OK though and when planning fast it was pure bliss on the Goya.
Gybing wasn't good enough in the rough seas and I was bouncing way too much on the approach, lucky there were some nice ramps out to sea, to start the gybes. Most were planning hard all day but alas I should have rigged the 7.3 North E type, as I started even losing ground not planning. Luckily the wind freshened to keep me high. I wiped out 3/4 times and unluckily the dam mast cracked the nose of my favourite board the Goya Freerace 130. Think I was stitched by the Ebay seller though. The board was sold with a damaged nose but it was worse than picture on arrival. 2 repairs have now failed so hope to find a nose protector after the next repair. Packed up, before the board took more water. Going to have to get Lord Swains Gul rigging jacket as I am always cold at the dip. Think everyone said they had a great sail. Wind died be4 just after Colsey launched prob 4 ish and Nick arrived a few minutes later and the wind swung off and drop, so bloody glad I had packed up.
Finishing off with a sauna as normal I dosed off on the slats and my mate the gym joker filled a bucket of cold fountain water and slung it over me! Ruined my day after chasing him I slipped and fell in the pool, only to get a rollicking from the staff for diving and running!
