Mood: Not long to go..Morocco again!
4th September 2016
Windsurfing: Mersea Island
Wind Direction: W
Wind Stength: 21kts
Surf / Sea State: Flat to choppy
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny cloudy
Max Speed: 26.83 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 21.3 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Brilliant session, brilliant day! Arrived just after 10 with tide coming in, still 50 metres away. Reading showed 21kts but all sailors out and no guinea pigs to ask. Ian, Lord Swain, Nick, Andy M, Roger, Pete Rowe, Mark, Chris and a few friends from way back when all rigging on the green, whilst Craig and crew stayed at the club end.
The wind was howling from old Mersea end and was told those out were on 5.5/6.0, so rigged Hellcat 6.7 and big guys were on similar size. Lightweights were on 5.5. but was shocked to see Chris P rigging same size sail as me when he is much lighter! The wind was dropping and thought I would be under, so rigged the bigger 146L JP instead of Fanatic 125 Hawk. Bad choice, the wind freshened and I was way over on my first few runs. The 50cm fin was way too big and sail way too soft so had to fine tune. Runs out were great until you hit the chop in the middle where most gybed early. Real nice coming in, off swells, going thru the middle then swinging off them. The sail was flat and now working with the 125 Hawk using a 42 fin. Prob would have been better with the 6 metre sail as my speeds were great.
Lord Swain ruined my day by doing me twice for **ck sake! On both drag runs in I chose to go broad for speed instead of my normal luffing up close reach to give off pooh wind and twice he gunned me from high, aarrgghh! I had a reasonable excuse first time when riding the 146L with a 50cm fin, was completely out of control, but on the Hawk I still couldn't hold him off. Win some lose some I guess.
This was a top day with everyone flying. Poor old Chris P had a Biggy moment with gear failure and was in the water for a long while, and had to wave down the dreaded orange coastguard boat.
Finished off a long sail at 1pm, as the wind died and swung off leaving me a 50 metre swim completely knackered.
Went Sauna, steam and cuzzi to recover then on to the local park Bollywood festival, with Bundi, Bongoman and loads more. Feasted on my all time fav food, curry goat, rice & peas, jerk chicken, fried dumpling and plantain! Wash down with real coconut juice laced with white rum! Now dying with indigestion and hoping to have a clear out later!!
Top day, only tainted by Swainey dogging me twice
