I think today was my last day at work until we head off to France again in
September :) and what a fantastic day it was, wall to wall sunshine and 27
degrees. There was a breeze forecast but wsw which is a bit off at
Felixstowe which means The Fludgers , The Manor or Landguard, I was home at
3:30 and the conditions looked OK at The Fludgers but because of the nice
day you stood no chance of parking as it was very crowded. I loaded up the
trailor and headed to The Manor and then Landguard carpark and both were
heaving with no spaces and the wind looked really off here so drove the 6
miles to Levington Marina and parked at the entrance end. It was an ideal
tide with it coming in and just enough beach to launch but the wind did
look up and down. It was too nice a day not to give it a try so rigged my
new Tushingham Lightning 8.5 with my 147. I beat all the way down to
Felixstowe docks only planning in patches but found some nice gusts and
peaked at nearly 25 kts, shame there was not a little more wind as the
water was super flat ! Sailing back to Levington with the tide I managed to
just plan all the way back a couple of times. I then beat up toward
Levington Creek and had some more gusts but there more too many lulls :(
Still nice to be out on a lovely day with loads of yachts :)
