If Carlsberg made food it would curry goat rice n peas n dumpling…
If they made a windsurf venue it would be Felixstowe dip this after noon
:)!
Yep you missed it peeps.
My gauge went straight to 15kts on arrival @ 2.45pm gusting to 18kts on a
half tide flat water…
6 kiters out – no one else to zip my steamer dri-zip, so had to faff and
get it off/wore the summer suit. Also faff the sail rigging as twisted cams
and had to start again…
Rigged Pryde H2 7.7M cam/146L Excite ride pro/50cm fin (should have been
7.0/120L) and finally hit the water 3.45pm flying on the some of the best
seas I have had at the dip. The angle was 20/30 deg’s off the beach flat
out, but on the way back, noticed wind and tide, you have to beat back.
Was overpowered so combo should have been 120L/7.0 with a smaller fin to be
comfortable but had no intention of stopping just in case…wind
dropped.
Flattening the sail via the adjustable outhaul took the sting out of the
sail and had a great 2hrs 30 mins sailing. Counted 48 gybes :) and dropped
none step gibing. Only went in the water twice to fix a jammed adjustable
outhaul.
This was another 5***** 2nd best sail in the last 2 years
Chris P turned up late with 8M but said he didn’t enjoy it
(overpowered)and Dave Coles (later) bomb off on a one way trip to the
manor. Several kiters out earlier.
If Tuesday is the same or more wind – light weight could be 6.0/6.5 heavy
7.0M
Best sea was half tide about 3pm, flat the first 500M then rolling swell
after that!!
Coming back thru the swell then bomb the flat water – you have to keep up
then to stay at the start point. It was like that for an hour or so, then
chopped up near high tide.
At 5/6pm the tide was high it was still perfect out, as the run was well
away from the river, but you need to remember to beat back, or you lose 2
groins easy as its wind with tide. Packed up 6.30 ish.
Fabulous day – 24.5kts sailed 19.2 Nm 2 ½ hrs non stop
North shox update 3 -
this gadget gets better and better. Have moved my back straps to the last
holes now as the front end is so controlled! slammed the nose into 4ft
swells watched the whole shox closed completely to absord the slam! No
flying over the top out of control...def damps the 7.7 rig, as I should
really have used 7.0M. The 146L pro is a superb machine, the best bd yet
for me!
