Windsurfing: Felixstowe dip Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: F4-F6 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: good Max Speed: 28.6 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 8.3 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
I checked the fludge end and saw squawk wallowing perilously close to the
sea defence, as the wind dropped so went to the Dip. Good call as lots were
there and the wind perfect for my 6.7 RS / 125 rocket. several sailors were
out and the carpark was massacre.
had a few runs then the wind started howling and I was way over. Changed
board to 115L and stuck 28.6K on the meter and started heading high for a
broad run. It was getting rough by now, and going broad was suicidal. I was
now grossly over powered - F6 + gusting on the meter.
Went to rig 5.7M my smallest sail (5.0M has a hole and I have no mast or
boom for it yet) and the others were rigging 4.5M - 5.0M. Worryingly others
said they were over on 5.0M so I called it a day.
This is the best conditions I have seen at the dip to be fair and although
it was hard work it wasn't ballistic on the water and everyone appeared to
have a great time.
After Family committent at 4-7, I set about with a hacksaw, pop rivetter
and now have gear for 5.0, when I get the sail repaired, as my Mistral 114
Slalom board is a great board with very little bounce and if only I had a
smaller sail. The waves looked even cleaner when I left.
I lost my rig puller, it has a string on the end if anyone finds it Thanks.
Read squawks report, in the s*it on the sea defence at the point, with the
current. I did the same and Rog rescue me, with my gear beached up way down
somewhere (undamaged!)
Read Squiz report - jesus C...! squiz bad call at the manor end mate, the
dip was where it was at.....
5***** conditions, its my fault no small gear...
