Having converted my mountain bike to a commuter (road tyres, mudguards) and removed the back brakes as some twat had kicked & buckled my wheel while it was at the station, it was time to see how it would cope with mud.

Imagine this: A half-mile descent, three inch deep mud all the way down, road tyres, and only a front brake which only served to send the front wheel into a skid if even gently applied. WOO-HOO! It was absolutely barking and I loved it. Glad no-one was coming the other way.

The rest of the ride was pleasant, if a little slippery. Must treat meself to some knobblies. And the whole objective of the exercise was acheived-I got covered in mud from head to toe! :-)
