Yet another mini adventure around the Shropshire hills at night. Decided for a change that we would go around the back of caer caradoc to the Lawley and back to Stretton.

When we got to the back of the Lawley the mist had descended and with no stars or moon visible it was going to be fun staying on the path. About a 2miles off the road we heard cries of Help! And after stopping discovered an old man totally lost in a bog with no torch of compass.

After guiding him to the safety of the path he told us he had been out walking on the hills and when the mist had fallen he had got disoriented and a had been stumbling around in the dark for a few hours. Mark lent him his mobile and he called his wife, who had already alerted the police.

We decided to split in to 2 groups of 2, with me and Geoff walking the Guy back to Church Stretton, which we duly did. Then after feeling that we had not really had a bike ride chose to do a slightly short route around 3 fingers rock at Hope Boulder, which was a new route only tried once this summer. And guess what we got completely lost almost biked off a rock face and after an hour of stumbling around in the bracken, we heard the road noise and headed for that.

Finally getting back to Stretton to find that the others had completed their trip out and had gone home. Well at least we did our good turn for the day, therefore a 5 star.
