Llanfairfechan seafront has a long, open stretch of sand which is an ideal play area for young children and people interested in watching the birds on Lavan sands. At the western end of the promenade, there is a children's paddling pool, a model boat lake, children's play are, croquet lawn, and bowling green specially adapted for the disabled. A footpath to the west leads to a quiet stretch of lowland known locally as "Shell Island", popular for sea fishing. Regular 'fun days' take place in the summer where children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows, face painting, etc.
The windsurfing and kitesurfing here can be good, especially in a SW wind when the winds funneling through the Menai Straits produce perfect cross-shore conditions across usually flat water. The sand and shingle beach can get quite busy with windsurfers (for this part of the world), but it isn't really suitable for beginners due to the strong currents. Northerly winds are cross-onshore from the right and can produce some good wave-sailing conditions. There is plenty of parking along the seafront and accommodation, shops and other facilities are available nearby.

Llan is terrible in SE and E. It can be good for flat water blasting in S
if the tide is out and you go to the West end of the beach, though being
offshore is gusty.

The drop can vary Neap/Spring 3m/9m, with very low tides needing a half
mile walk to the water. But is comes in quickly and after 1 hour walk is
100-200m. 3 hours either side og high the tides goes out 10 yeards

The drop can vary Neap/Spring 3m/9m, with very low tides needing a half

150m. 4 hours either side of high the tides goes out 10 metres.
When the tide is low a few kiters rig on the sand as not safe to on land,
and the most popular direction is NE.

Wind and kitesurfing
Around mid-tide in N and NE a few waves can be head high, quite a few waist
and loads of knee surf. Kites can launch as west end of beach earliest
where sand appears. If launching from jetty in N and NE there can be shore
dump until sand appears after 2-3 hours, and there is a wind shadow for a
few metres making launch in surf tricky.
