Up the A587 into fleetwood until you get to a big statue (of a fairy or something) in the middle of a large roundabout (can't miss it). Turn left (signposted to sea front) and when you reach the dunes turn right. Follow this coastal road for about 0.5 miles until you see loads of flags and kites etc on the left - this will be the 'flexifoil kiteshop' - there's a big car park just behind it, and changing rooms (which are closed until about May I think). The beach is right next to it.
It was very quiet when I went and not too many people on the beach. The beach I could see was about 3/4 mile long but it extends a lot further than that in both directions. The tide stayed up for about 2.5 hours, and went out like a rocket, about a half mile or more, so you need to time it right. I was waist deep the whole time for about 2 - 300 m out so it was ideal for learning to kitesurf. However, you need to be carful when the tide is going out as you can end up getting swept round to Rossal point
There's a cafe next to the carpark, and kite shop that seems to sell everything kite related. I'm also told that there are regularly some v good kiters there but they were away at a comp.

Knott End
There is a Coast Guard station across the river at Knott End, so remember
to give them a wave if you get into trouble. :-) They do have a RIB there
and can rescue you.
