We had an excellent session in the estuary today, and the estuary gave all its got!!

I got there around 7.30am and BEFS arrived shortly after, There wsn't much wind so we took a walk across the dunes to see if there was any surf. There wasn't, but last nights wind had shifted quite a bit of sand around and we found an amazing pristine sand-dune with a perfect knife edge ridge along the top... After a photo was taken of it, there was only one thing to do and that was cover it in footprints!! :)

When we got back, Ken was sat there in his car and the wind had started to fill in so we soon started to rig. I went out with my 6.3m and big (99ltr) board and had a good few runs nicely powered up on the flatish water, although there was some mad chop where the incoming tide was meeting the outflowing river water. I came in to make a few adjustments as the wind filled in a little more and Ken and BEFS, who hadn't quite finished rigging yet came down to ask if 6m was still the size to go out on. I said it was and that they'd be well-powered up now. I went back out for a bit, but 10 mintues later as BEFS was struggling down the beach with his kit, the wind filled in even more and I came in to change down to a 5m sail and my wave board. BEFS and Ken also changed down before even getting wet. A few other people were on the beach by now and beginning to rig, so I quickly changed down and got back out on the water before anyone else did. The 5m was now perfect and although there was a few holes in the wind, I was nicely powered up most of the time and the wind continued to increase. A few others came out with 5m sails and had a good sail, although I lost track of exactly who was out there and when. The wind continued to fill in and after a while the 5m was way too much so I came in and changed down to a 4.5m whilst everyone else was rigging or changing down to 4m sails.

The 4m-4.5m sails were then perfect for a while and the chop had picked up allowing for some good chop hops, the wind continued to pick up though and after a while it was survivial conditions with everyone being completely overpowered. Radical Rob, Stevebus, Richard, the guy (who's name I don't recall) in the red van, Ken and BEFS were all out. A couple from Chester and London were also out although their smallest sails of 5.1 for him and 4.7m for her were just too big for them in the end. SeanBo was out and had a good sail even though he was a little intimidated by the new location and strong winds.

A couple of guys sailed across from Aberdovey as well, but decided it was far to windy for them to sail back so they were still waiting on the beach for the wind to drop a little when I left. There was also a few other people out that I didn't recognise, but everyone seemed to be enjoying the mad conditions. After a while as the tide dropped, I decided to call it a day as I was getting tired, so packed up and went home after a decent days sailing. Adam turned up on the beach as well as I was pakcing up, but as usual hadn't brought his kit with him!!

All in all an excellent session with good winds and lots of people to sail with. All rounded off with a few beers in the Friendship with Anna, BEFS, SeanBo and Jane.
