Arrived at Borth at 10.30 to find BEFS returning from a mountain bike trip down the beach.

A guy was just coming in from kiting on a monster kite and the wind reading was 10-14 kts.

So I quickly rigged up the 9.0m as the forecast was for the wind to drop off. BEFS rigged also to give it a go.

Went out ok throught the shore break with enough power to get out although there was a bit of swell out back to make it interesting. Not enough to get planing properly as I think it started to drop off quite soon after we launched. BEFS made a run out before retiring but I stayed our for a while cruising around for quite some distance.

After a couple of hours I came in close to shore then headed off down the beach towards the estuary. I had a look over at the tourists at Aberdovey then sailed into the estuary.

Apparently no one saw this so after sailing into the estuary and leaving my kit by the hoards of jet ski/ ski boaters I walked back to the golf course to be met by a welcoming committee, Jules looking concerned but relieved to see me again, Al, BEFS, Dave and Sarah, oh err and the coast guard !

Details taken, suitably apologetic I went for a swim to cool down then we drove to the estuary to pick up my kit :)

Its nice to know that everyone is looking out for you but I'll avoid the cruising in future, maybe?

Any way an afternoon swim in the surf amoungst the surfers and a pub crawl through Borth, The Railway (2 lasagne for £7.95), The Victoria (football on sky) then the Friendship (easier to get served, never closes) capped off a good day.
